剣道もしたことがない、全くの初心者ですが大丈夫でしょうか？
I’m a total beginner with no Kendo experience. Am I welcome to participate?
当道場の半分位が全くの初心者から始めました。マンツーマンによる指導なので、その方のペースにあわせての稽古ですので、半年も経過すれば礼法、所作を初め、技もかなりすすんでるはずです。
About half of our dojo members started as complete beginners. Since we provide one-on-one instruction tailored to each individual’s pace, within about six months, you should have made significant progress in etiquette (reihō), movement (shosa), and techniques (waza).

What equipment do I need to get started?
稽古着、袴、帯、膝当など・・・約二万円
模擬刀・・・約四～五万円
一応上記のものはいずれ必要にはなりますが、当初はお貸しできるものは無料でお貸しします。
You will eventually need gear such as practice wear, hakama, obi, and knee pads (around 20,000 yen), plus a practice sword (40,000–50,000 yen). For beginners, we will lend out available items for free.
費用はどれくらいかかりますか？
How much does it cost?
入会費などはありません。宮城県剣道連盟所属の為の年会費三千円と、あとは道場費月額五千円（学生四千円）です。
There are no entrance fees or the like. The costs involved are the annual membership fee of 3,000 yen for registration with the Miyagi Prefecture Kendo Federation, and the monthly dojo fee of 5,000 yen (4,000 yen for students).
交通の便はいかがですか？
How convenient is the location for transportation?
最寄り駅は仙山線の北山駅ですが、歩いて１５分以上はかかると思います。仙台市営バスですと中山不動尊バス停から歩いて５分程度です。バイクや車でお越しでもかまいません。
Kitayama Station on the Senzan Line is the closest, but it’s a 15+ minute walk. The Nakayama Fudoson bus stop (Sendai City Bus) is only a 5-minute walk away. You can also arrive by motorcycle or car.
大会などはあるのですか？
Are there any competitions or tournaments?
昇段審査会（１級から初段、そして上へと続きます）、宮城県大会、東北大会、全国大会ほか地方主催大会などもあります。自由参加です。詳しく知りたい方は宮城県剣道連盟居合道部会の公式ホームページを見てください。
